our sustainable spirit
reduce
rethink
recycle
minimise consumption
We minimise material and energy usage in all our own processes and activities, as well as in processes and activities serving our customers. We take responsibility for our entire value cycle.
choose sustainable materials
and energy
We choose materials and substances that do not cause ecological damage. We avoid any unnecessary natural resource exhaustion and replace unsustainable energy sources with environmentally sound ones.
recycle all residuals
We close material loops by reusing and recycling. Residuals not suitable to reuse or recycle are offered for energy recovery. Residual heat is a great resource to heat our buildings.
our sustainable conviction
At Aalberts integrated piping systems, we believe that sustainability is our responsibility towards our planet and future generations. Therefore, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through smart innovations, adopting circular business models, and optimising energy usage in all locations and by all of our employees.
Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are increasingly equipped with the latest energy-efficient technologies, and we are continuously exploring new ways to reduce waste and conserve resources, including through our commitment to sustainable procurement. We firmly believe that sustainable growth is key to long-term success, and we strive to inspire our customers, technology partners, and stakeholders to actively join us in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future.
sustainable impact with the Pegler ProFlow PICV
Our Apollo ProFlow PICV (Pressure Independent Control Valve) is one of our many sustainable products, because it significantly lowers the use of materials and energy The well-balanced system it creates, gives a stable room temperature. This in turn gives the opportunity to lower the average temperature with 2ºC with the same comfort. With lower flow and resistance in the system, the pump energy use is lowered further. A well-balanced system often gives the opportunity to select a smaller pump thus substantially lowering energy and material usage.
our sustainable development goals
Our products enable clean water and sanitation as well as efficient and renewable energy.
Every year, we supply millions of meters of pipes and connections for the hygienic distribution of drinking and waste water. Our integrated piping systems help millions of households worldwide access safe water, sanitation and hygiene while promoting efficient water use and conservation. This is how our solutions support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
Our integrated piping systems cover a broad spectrum of mission-critical building technology systems that make residential, commercial and industrial buildings more eco-friendly. These hydrogen ready systems have a very high temperature resistance and are suitable for use in solar installations. This is how our solutions support United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7.
Our operations deliver innovative products, made in world class factories with a focus on circularity.
We track our innovation rate to continuously improve our offerings. Our new products control water and air more efficiently and allow for greater precision. Utilising digital systems we help our customers create efficient piping systems in their buildings. Our world-class factories are being upgraded to fit into the net-zero future. This is how our business supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 9.
We track key metrics to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and water use, and increase recycling. Additionally, we are working with our supply chain to procure quality materials with high recycled content. By manufacturing durable products that last, we cut down on the need for frequent replacements. These efforts are how we support United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.
our environmental product declarations
Environmental product declarations (EPDs) provide transparent and scientifically based information about the environmental impact of a product throughout its lifecycle. EPDs provide verified information about a product’s carbon footprint, water usage and waste generation as well as other environmental impact factors. By comparing this with other EPDs our customers can make informed decisions, ensure their purchases have minimal impact on the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.
Please note, when comparing EPDs, pay attention to the declared unit, service life, the scope of the assessment, any assumptions made, and the quality of the data. A lower number doesn’t always mean the product is more sustainable.
our embodied carbon calculations
Whilst Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are invaluable for providing comprehensive information, we recognise that they can be complex and time-consuming to develop. So, we’re taking advantage of a quicker and more accessible way to assess environmental impact across the entire product range: Embodied Carbon calculated using CIBSE TM65 methodology.
Embodied Carbon encompasses all emissions generated during the manufacture, installation, and end-of-life disposal of a product. Notably, this calculation doesn’t consider the potential benefits of re-use, recovery, or recycling. In the context of Aalberts IPS products, the majority of carbon emissions are associated with the raw materials used to make them. When both a TM65 embodied carbon calculation as well as an EPD are available, we’d always recommend using the EPD, simply because it’s more accurate.
In line with our commitment to simplicity and transparency, we introduced a sustainability tab on the individual product pages that provides pre-calculated values for embodied carbon for greater ease of use, offering customers a clear and accessible overview of product carbon footprint.
BREEAM distribution centre
Our high-quality distribution centre for Aalberts integrated piping systems Western Europe in Zeewolde (NL) has been rewarded with the BREEAM Very Good certificate. BREEAM stands for Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method and is the certification method for a sustainable built environment. With this method, projects can be assessed on integral sustainability. Aalberts integrated piping systems intends to have a substantial contribution to a sustainable environment. This is not only for our production resources, but we also help our customers to design and set up sustainable integrated piping systems.
